Basic Principles of Vacuum Slot Extraction

Vacuum slot extraction is becoming more popular In textile wet processing because of its energy efficiency and other economic benefits. The baric princlples of vacuum slot extraction are reviewed. The function of the components of a vacuum extractor and the mechanism of liquid removal from the fabric are discussed. The effects of the most important variables controlling the final water content are illustrated using data obtained with a laboratory vacuum extraction unit. Areas requiring further research to improve the vacuum finishing technique are described.
